Approach to Tutoring:

As a humanities specialist, Charlie’s tutoring philosophy centres around bringing a formulaic approach to subjects that can prove dauntingly open-ended for many students. He first ensures his students have a comprehensive understanding of the subject material before guiding them through a consistent and reliable essay structure. Additionally, Charlie aims to improve his students’ results by helping them improve their study and revision strategies so that they can be more efficient with their time.

Charlie encourages his students to be vocal during their lessons, as such an approach is vital for gaining a better understanding of a student’s strengths and weaknesses. In making his students active participants in all lessons, he develops their flexibility and comfort in adapting ideas to unseen questions. Finally, he encourages students to regularly submit work for feedback, helping them build confidence as they approach their exams.

Biography:

Charlie grew up in Bronte, Sydney, attending Randwick Public School from Kindergarten to Year 6. After receiving a full academic scholarship, he attended Shore from Year 7 to Year 12.At school, Charlie balanced ambitious academic goals with heavy sporting commitments, making combined AAGPS representative teams for both swimming and water polo. In the classroom, he possessed a strong passion for learning, developing a specific interest in Modern History and Economics. Charlie has continued to pursue these interests at the tertiary level, currently studying a bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics along with history-oriented breadth subjects.

In his spare time, Charlie loves to swim, participating in ocean swims as well as swimming casually. He volunteers as a surf lifesaver at Bronte Beach and works as a swimming instructor. Additionally, he is actively involved in college life at Trinity, representing the college in intercollegiate and social sporting teams.
