Stephanie is an empathetic tutor and supports her students through open communication. Having ascertained a student’s individual goals, she plans each lesson to capitalise on strengths and targets areas of weakness through detailed feedback.
With a particular passion for English, Stephanie assists students in going beyond the surface level analysis of a text to write authentically, stand out and succeed. Stephanie is highly familiar with recent development in the HSC marking centre over, whereby personal voice is expected to a far greater extent than in previous years. With this in mind, she guides students to craft and refine essays that are applicable across a range of questions and employ personal voice with sophistication and flair. Stephanie is also an experienced tutor of Modern History, having herself achieved a state rank and a trial HSC result of 100/100.
Currently undertaking a Bachelor of Health Science, Stephanie can ensure that her Chemistry students possess a strong conceptual foundation and master the higher value exam-style questions which are ultimately the differentiators between a sound and an outstanding result.
Stephanie was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Australia at 3 years old. She attended St Ives Public School before moving to Roseville College for Years 5-9 and Barker College for Years 10-12.
From a young age, Stephanie played representative netball. She has represented both Ku-ring-gai Netball Association and Northern Suburbs Netball Association at NSW State Titles, played in school and open women’s club competitions and won her division of Dooley’s Metro League.
Whilst playing touch football and netball for Barker, Stephanie continued to pursue her academic passions as the Proxime Accessit of Year 11 and Dux of Year 12. As House Captain, she engaged meaningfully with younger students and fundraised for Barker’s new campus for children of refugee background. She also enjoyed volunteering and facilitating lessons at Clarke Road School for students with an intellectual disability.
Stephanie is studying a Bachelor of Health Science at ANU which offers her a promising pathway to studying post-graduate medicine. In addition to tutoring, Stephanie loves travelling, running and hiking.
