Approach to Tutoring:

Jarrod is dedicated to ensuring that his students perform at the highest level. With a personalised approach and unique lesson plans for every client, Jarrod’s goal is to encourage a deep passion for mathematics. After diagnosing strengths and weaknesses, Jarrod builds his lessons around developing mathematical confidence within his students. By focusing on harder problems requiring techniques from multiple topics, students will be equipped to solve each and every question on their exams. Advanced students have the option of working ahead of the curriculum, while Jarrod also provides the option to consolidate schoolwork knowledge by working through difficult problems in a one-on-one learning environment. These services will be supplemented by research-style homework projects designed to develop higher order critical thinking skills.

Biography:

Jarrod spent his early years growing up in France, before returning to Sydney for the later years of primary school. While attending Barker College from Years 7-12, he travelled overseas with his robotics team to win competitions across the world in Shenzhen, Quebec and Texas. He graduated in 2020 with an ATAR of 99.85.

Since graduating from high school, Jarrod has spent his last three years in Canberra studying Maths and Physics. Despite not taking physics in high school, he has quickly progressed to studying the subject at the highest level, tackling topics in particle physics and general relativity. He is constantly delighted by how high level mathematics can be applied in fundamental physics. After completing his degree, Jarrod is planning to continue his study by completing a PhD in Mathematical Physics.

When he’s not busy tutoring, Jarrod is a voracious reader and is currently making his way through Ursula Le Guin’s ‘Left Hand of Darkness’. He enjoys going on long walks and devising deceptively complex maths problems (What fraction of earth is experiencing either sunrise or sunset? What is the shape of the moon’s crescent?) to discuss with his twin brother (Declan, also a tutor at Premier Tutors).
