Rhys is a knowledgeable and illustrious tutor whose passion for learning makes him dedicated to helping students enjoy and reach the full potential of their education. Specialising in high school Mathematics and Science, Rhys' experience as a high-achiever in senior school enables him to give detailed, organised and well-balanced lessons for his students.
Rhys graduated from Barker College as Dux Proxime, achieving both a perfect ATAR of 99.95 as well as placing $3^\text{rd}$ in NSW for Chemistry and $7^\text{th}$ in NSW for Physics. A true all-rounder, Rhys completed both Ext. 2 Mathematics and English. Rhys was also the Debating and Public Speaking Captain at Barker. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Science/Master of Mathematics at the University of Sydney on the Chancellor's Scholarship.
Rhys is the Head Debating tutor at Premier Tutors and is currently developing the Premier Tutors debating program.

Rhys focuses on enabling students to achieve beyond their own academic expectations. He aims to create a personalised learning experience, fostering an enriching and engaging environment by catering to the needs of the student and their learning process.
His tutoring approach is built around the needs of the student, however, it remains fixed on helping them to achieve academic excellence. Rhys does this by finding the strengths and weaknesses of his students, using his observations to structure lessons in order to enrich pre-existing talent, while also addressing problem areas.
Furthermore, Rhys prepares thoroughly for each lesson, preparing detailed feedback and a clear plan for the student to achieve beyond their academic goals. His passion for teaching and learning offers students a clear and enthusiastic lesson to get the most out of their time.
Rhys grew up in the Upper North Shore of Sydney attending Barker College in Hornsby from Year 5 until his graduation as Dux Proxime in Year 12. In High School, Rhys involved himself in all aspects of school life, representing the Mock Trial Team as a closing barrister, the Debating team as Firsts Captain and the Volleyball Firsts team.
To complement his interest in debating and oratory, Rhys has possessed a lifelong passion for Mathematics and Science. Inspired by work experience with CSIRO in 2019, Rhys has decided to pursue further study of Physics and Pure Mathematics at University. Rhys is currently enrolled as a Dalyell Scholar in a combined Science and Mathematics degree, where he plans to study for the next four years.
In addition to tutoring, Rhys is planning on debating at the University of Sydney, while also coaching debating at his alma mater. He also enjoys playing basketball and volleyball as social sports, as well as reading postmodern fiction (he is currently reading Gravity's Rainbow).
Words cannot do justice to the gratitude I feel towards Premier Tutors. My son who will complete his HSC in 2024 was always relatively academic, although potentially lacked the knowledge and building blocks to achieve greater heights. What I asked of Premier Tutors was the impossible….I could see that their tutors were indeed stellar academics, I asked for that, not help with content per se but to impart the study skills and understandings of a student, turned tutor, capable of achieving at the highest level.
My son’s need for tutoring arose due to his absences from school due to sporting commitments, which has seen him miss large blocks of in-class contact time, potentially threatening his ability to achieve his academic goals both at school and in the future at university. However the personalised tutoring from Premier Tutors has seen him not only cope, but flourish, where many of his friends have moved to an online mode, he in contrast, he has been able to stay connected to his school community and achieve academically.
I personally believe Premier Tutors are unparalleled in their professionalism and commitment to their students and families. If what you strive for as a parent is to equip your child with life long learning skills to take beyond their school years then I believe the investment you will make in Premier Tutors will be well worth it. I can only speak for my own son, but his personal growth when working alongside tutors of this calibre has not only increased his understanding of the content of his subjects it has bolstered his aspirations for life. He has been fortunate enough to work with Rhys and James throughout Year 10 and 11 and also had support from Emily this year. All three tutors are individual by nature of their specialisation in their chosen fields, but similar in their capabilities, professionalism and responsiveness as tutors due to the structure and support provided by the Concierge Team and the curriculum materials provided by Premier Tutors.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to my friends, I came to Premier Tutors through a friend recommendation, and have in fact shared my success story with two of my closest friends, who have also engaged Premier Tutors for their children and they too are reaping the benefits. In summary, please do not think I take this investment lightly, it is a significant investment, especially as I myself am an educator. However it is one of the most valuable investments, along with his school, that I could have made in my son and I could not be more satisfied with the return, regardless of his actual marks. We reached out to Premier Tutors after a recommendation from a trusted acquaintance. Our daughter in Year 11 at the time, needed assistance with Chemistry as the school was lagging in the curriculum. After reviewing all the tutor profiles, our daughter worked with Rhys who was incredibly knowledgeable, professional and very focused in his lessons.
