Approach to Tutoring:

Margot teaches her students to be driven, free-thinking individuals who value learning. Her lessons are personalised to target each student’s weaknesses, amplify their strengths, and achieve their academic goals.

She provides detailed feedback on items of work and helps students to understand where and how they can improve. Margot particularly encourages students to focus on the skills of articulating and refining their ideas, especially in essays under exam pressure.

Margot aims for all of her students to excel and grow as she helps them navigate the HSC year. She is passionate about each subject that she teaches and hopes to instil this enthusiasm in her students.

Biography:

Margot currently lives in Sydney and graduated in 2019 from SCEGGS Darlinghurst, where her favourite subjects were English and History. She has pursued several other interests through co-curricular activities, including philosophy, public speaking, and tennis.

She has been acknowledged by national competitions including the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards and the John Marsden & Hachette Australia Prize, and her poetry has been published in The New York Times and The Claremont Review.

Margot's many years of hard work, dedication and love for English came together in her truly remarkable success applying to study in the United States. She received offers from 7 out of the 8 Ivy league schools in the US, including Harvard and Princeton, to study English, Creative Writing and Poetry at the tertiary level. She decided to go to Yale and has been enjoying an enriching and rewarding experience there for the last year.
