Heath is passionate about helping his students improve to reach their potential. By focusing on a limited number of students, Heath is able to appreciate what type of learners his students are, and tailor his tutoring approach appropriately. This personalised approach greatly increases the effectiveness of the tutoring sessions as well and makes it more enjoyable for the student.
Heath aims to determine the strengths and weaknesses of his students and focus on work accordingly. Heath understands and has seen from experience the importance of clear and helpful feedback. He also focuses on helping his students understand their work conceptually, reducing the focus on memorisation of content.
Heath believes that every student is capable of any academic achievement if they can understand how they learn and work most effectively. He seeks to help his students in finding this.
Heath grew up in Randwick, Sydney. He attended Clovelly PS from Kindergarten to Year 4, moving to Woollahra PS in Year 5. In Year 7 he entered Sydney Grammar School with a full scholarship.
Heath played a high level of soccer, cricket and basketball at school, while also joining the school cadet corps. He made the most of opportunities such as a French Exchange and the Open Source Malaria project, which inspired him to pursue scientific research at university. Heath achieved consistently outstanding results throughout school. Despite equally excellent results in Modern History and Mathematics Ext. 2, Heath decided to pursue Science at ANU, studying a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) - Science degree. Heath is now residing in a college at ANU while he finishes his degree.
Heath is involved in many sports at ANU, representing ANU in basketball and representing his college in soccer, AFL, cricket, disc, running and basketball. Heath loves reading when he has the time as well as pursuing his side passion for history. Heath maintains that his high levels of extracurricular commitment during Year 12 helped his academic results. Heath also loves travelling, having backpacked around Malaysia and Thailand in early 2020.
